National Museum of Anthropology
Co-curator of the temporary exhibition “ZHŌNGGUÓ. The Country of the Center” (2024).
So far, yet so close. Nearly a quarter of a million people of Chinese origin live in our country. But do we know them well? Do we know what they're like, what they think, and how they feel? What do we know about their culture beyond a few clichés and stereotypes? The temporary exhibition Zhongguo: The Country of the Center It brings us closer to the Chinese diaspora community in Spain, offering an immersive experience in which these people and their culture take center stage. They speak to us in the first person.
I was invited by the MNA to collaborate in this exhibition as commissioner and coordinator, which sought to delve into the ancient relationships between East and West, and specifically between China and Spain, as well as strengthen ties and showcase the Chinese diaspora. To this end, the exhibition consisted of several sections.
The first part, part of the fourth edition of the project "People Who Migrate, Objects That Migrate from... China," was the result of a co-creation process with the Mesa Redonda collective and other artists and collaborators who are key figures in the Chinese-Spanish community. The second part showcased a selection of pieces from the Chinese collections held at the National Museum of Anthropology, emphasizing the millennia-old relationship between China and Spain. Some of the pieces on display were reinterpreted by members of the Chinese community as part of the "With Our Own Voice" program.

Advisory Committee for the renovation of the National Museum of Anthropology (2024).
The National Museum of Anthropology is launching work on the renovation of its permanent exhibition in coordination with the technical team of the Ministry of Culture's Subdirectorate General of State Museums. The first step will be the creation of an advisory committee, whose task will be to prepare a technical report with proposals on the conceptual guidelines, the museographic plan, and the selection of pieces to be displayed. This report will serve as the basis for the museum's subsequent drafting of the preliminary project for the new permanent exhibition.
The advisory committee will meet regularly to prepare a technical report with proposals on three key areas: the conceptual guidelines for the new exhibition, the museographic plan, and a proposed selection of exhibits. Based on this, the museum will subsequently draft the preliminary project for the renovation of the permanent exhibition, which is expected to begin in 2025.
